Bastards

$4.95

The second appearance of Yellow Majesty was in 2021 with the album Bastards. The album explores and highlights thought provoking ideas that are related to the impulsive nature of human desire, formation of habits, the irony of human hypocrisy, and the urgency of unveiling a truth without any unnecessary layers of contradictions. This is expressed sonically and visually through a calculated, edgy, and dense production, together with the honestly direct, ironic, and unsettling lyrics. The overall message of the album is a bit more optimistic than the debut EP Tonight’s Blessing from 2020, emphasising the implications of change through an undeniable truth that is timely relevant : ‘you can either choose to give up and let the bastards win by letting them recruit your purity, or you can fool them by playing dead…’

The album initiates with the emergence of the intro track Premonition, and transits afterwards to the intense and wicked Bastards. The third track on the album is the first interlude of the album, Strangeland, absorbing the listener into a surreal and ambient space, which then transits to the crunchy Honey Sweet. The second interlude Hellbound initiates with a church bell and expands the album closer to the end by introducing motifs for the most melodic track on the EP, The Deadman. The album ends with an urging message to the listener Beware.

The album was subsequently arranged, written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Amir Haj-Bolouri at Yellow Fuzz Studio.
